Hey Four Eyes!!

It's the trickle up effect I guess you could say. I've been seeing bespectacled beauties all over the place. Whether it's hipster Ray-Ban wayfarers or John Lennon specs everybody's got them. Now, in 2009 they're all over the runways. Regardless of whether you actually need them or not, they still look cool. There is something intellectual and timeless about glasses. As for Poor Jane, she's blind as a bat and mostly wears contacts. But there is just something that makes me feel professional about my eggplant purple Pradas.

Underneath it all.

A huge trend in 2008 was lingerie inspired pieces. Designers like Christian Dior, BCBG Max Azria, and Channel were sending this trend down the runways. Poor Jane thinks that underwear as outerwear should be carried into 2009.

2009.

On the eve of the New Year I saw plenty of classy ladies sporting cutting edge trends. But I think the garment I saw the most was the fur coat. Case in point.

Fringe Benefits

Here at Poor Jane things have been a little slow. The Holiday Season yielded little despite persistent visits to my usual thrift haunts. Lately, my obsession with fringe has turned unhealthy. It all started when I spotted this little beauty spring of 2007.
Prada fringe bag
(Miuccia Prada is a genious). After that I watched the movie Easy Rider, and Dennis Hopper's fringed jacket further cemented my obsession. And as always, nostalgia for the 1960's and 1970's sometimes over takes my good judgment. Recently, I've been finding some really nice fringed pieces.

On the dawn of a new year I've found myself reflecting on 2008. We had a historic election, Bejing hosted the Olympics (Michael Phelps *swoon*) , YSL passed away, Robert Plant made a comeback, and more importantly our country is in an economic downturn. Although, for Poor Jane economic downturn has been my current state for quite sometime so it's something I'm used to. Some of my favorite fashion moments for 2008.

I am looking forward to fashion in 2009. And as always I should make a few resolutions.

- Discover my inner grunge girl.
- Get a tattoo.
- Move to NYC.
